Welcome to Verdens Sirener's site for UN International Mother Language Day.
Just like in previous years, the Sirens of the World are holding an event on the occasion of UN International Mother Language Day.
It will be on February 21st 2025 from 16.30 - 20.00.
The event will be held in: Sankt Johannesgården in the big hall, Blegdamsvej 1B (behind Skt. Johannes Kirke), 2200 KBH N, close to Sankt Hans Torv . There will be various artists performing e.g. in Kurdish, Danish, Esperanto, Lingala and many more besides the Verdens Sirener will perform in numerous languages.
There will also be different language booths where people will tell about their language.
Regarding what UN International Mother Language Day is, here is an excerpt from the UN home page:
"International Mother Language Day recognizes that languages and multilingualism can advance inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals’ focus on leaving no one behind. believes education, based on the first language or mother tongue, must begin from the early years as early childhood care and education is the foundation of learning."
